Needless to say, the abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison was wrong. That being said, if I had to choose to live under a dictatorship which raped, physically tortured and killed at random (while rewarding those meting out punishment) and an occupation force which takes pictures of naked people who are accused criminals and then punishes the picture takers - I'd go for the latter and take my chances.

In other words, it's not as bad as this.

And why is it that Arabs all over the world become inflamed and enraged at the humiliation of prisoners, but the rest of the world or Westerners do not get inflamed and angered by videos of hostage taking and summary executions of their own? Are we to expect mindless revenge and hatred from "the Arab street" and mindless retreat from "the Western street"?

Now I'm no believer in vast right/left wing conspiracies, but how does all this come to light at exactly the same time in the U.S. and U.K. over a year after we started taking prisoners?
