Just a reminder to those who are forgetful of the history of Palestine/Israel.

Mahmoud Abbas went to Gaza today to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first attempted Fatah attack on Israel which took place on January 1, 1965.
"...Fatah hailed the operation as the start of the revolution to recapture the land lost to Israel when the Jewish state was created in 1948.

"From among our steadfast people, waiting at the borders, our revolutionary vanguard has issued forth, in the belief that armed revolution is our only path to Palestine and freedom," said a statement titled Al-Asifa Communique Number One."
The funny thing is that this was 2 1/2 years before Israel had occupied the West Bank and Gaza. Methinks that turning over these territories to the Palestinians will not satisfy Fatah's goals. And I specifically say "turning over" and not "return" becuase the Palestinians never had control over the territories in the first place.

Please read "Which Came First -Terrorism or "Occupation""? for more detail.

Mahmoud Abbas is Yasser Arafat's heir apparent and is the front-runner in the Palestinian election to take place on January 9. According to the MSNBC news report:
Abbas repeatedly praised longtime Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, who died on Nov. 11. Both men were among the founders of the Fatah movement.

“Today we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the revolution begun by Abu Ammar,” he said, referring to Arafat. “We will continue until a Palestinian boy and girl place a Palestinian flag over the walls and minarets of Jerusalem.”
And they don't mean East Jerusalem.
